Who should apply?

The AgriTech4Rwanda Innovation Challenge is open to national Agri-Tech innovators. Participants can include individuals (e.g. entrepreneurs, practitioners, students, researchers, and scientists) representing innovative startups, small and medium-sized companies, research centers and universities, non-profit organizations, and social collectives.

Participants should meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must address climate change challenges within the Rwanda agricultural sector 

  • Applicants must show a proof-of-concept (POC) or minimum-viable-product (MVP)

  • Applicants must have a business registered and operating in Rwanda

  • Applicants should apply as a team which includes at least two people who have taken a full-time commitment to their project

  • Applications must be submitted in English and participants must have the capacity to participate in a project delivered entirely in English

  • Applicants must clearly define the intended use of funds

Important Note: Applications will not be considered for evaluation if they are incomplete, do not comply with the terms and conditions specified in the call, or are submitted after the deadline.

Priority Areas

The AgriTech4Rwanda Innovation Challenge seeks to catalyze climate resilience solutions, leveraging innovation and technology to mitigate the impacts of climate change on smallholder farmers. By convening key stakeholders in a Consultancy Workshop on February 12, 2025, in Kigali, the initiative validated the priority sectors of the challenge to ensure alignment with Rwanda’s agricultural and climate resilience goals.

To complete your submission the following content should be provided:

  • Filled-in application form

  • Pitch Deck (max 15 slides, PDF format): Presentation with: (i) idea and value proposition; (ii) explanation of the solution; (iii) details on the underpinning technology and data inputs, (iv) details on how to maintain the product in the long run; (v) who are the key partners involved in this project or who are the partners you would like to attract; (vi) why should investors invest in this solution. (vii) What is your main motivation to join this program. Please provide the presentation in PDF format.
