On February 12, 2025, a Consultation Workshop was held in Kigali, bringing together 70 stakeholders from 30 organizations, including government agencies, private sector players, financial institutions, farmer cooperatives, research institutions, and investors. The workshop served as a platform to validate the priority areas of the AgriTech4Rwanda Innovation Challenge 2025, ensuring alignment with Rwanda’s climate resilience and agricultural transformation goals.

Rwanda’s agricultural sector is a cornerstone of its economy, contributing 25% of the GDP and employing 65% of the population. However, it faces significant challenges due to climate change. In response, the Rwanda Green Fund through Ireme Invest, together with the CGIAR Hub for Sustainable Finance (ImpactSF) and the CGIAR Accelerate for Impact Platform (A4IP), with funding from the Gates Foundation are launching the AgriTech4Rwanda Innovation Challenge.
