The Agritech4Tanzania Accelerator is a structured business acceleration programme that helps Tanzanian agritech enterprises optimise their digital solutions and strengthen their use of data to improve products, services, operations, and business growth — through technical assistance, mentorship, peer learning, and strategic partnerships. Participating enterprises will build their capacity to develop and scale data-driven solutions for the agricultural sector.

The programme is designed forTanzanian-registered agritech enterprises that:

• Have an existing digital product, solution, or service in the market that targets smallholder farmers.
• Use, collect, manage, or generate agricultural data as part of their business model.
• Are committed to strengthening their data capabilities and scaling their business.
• Can dedicate time and personnel to participate fully in the programme.

Applications are welcome from enterprises developing digital and data-driven solutions across the agricultural value chain to benefit smallholder farmers, including:

• Digital advisory services
• Farm management platforms
• Precision agriculture solutions
• Climate-smart agriculture technologies
• Market information systems
• Supply chain and traceability platforms
• Financial and insurance technologies for agriculture
• Input and mechanisation platforms
• Agricultural e-commerce platforms

Participants may benefit from:

• Business and growth strategy support
• Data strategy and governance guidance
• Technical mentorship
• Product and service refinement
• Investment readiness coaching
• Networking with investors and ecosystem partners
• Opportunities to showcase their solutions
• Peer learning with other agritech enterprises

The exact support provided will be tailored to each enterprise's needs.

No. All accelerator sessions (that is, trainings, workshops, award event, demo days, etc) will be held in Dar Es Salaam. The programme will cover subsistence allowance for participants outside Dar Es Salaam to attend such sessions. Participants from Dar Es Salaam are expected to attend the sessions at their own costs.

The accelerator will run over several months through a combination of workshops, mentoring sessions, technical assistance, networking events, and business coaching. The detailed programme calendar will be shared with successful applicants.

Selected enterprises are expected to:

• Attend programme sessions.
• Participate in mentoring and coaching.
• Complete agreed milestones and assignments.
• Share relevant business and data information where appropriate.
• Engage actively with programme partners and fellow participants.

Yes. Information submitted during the application and throughout the programme will be treated confidentially and used only for programme administration, selection, monitoring, evaluation, and learning purposes, unless otherwise agreed with the participant.

No. Participation does not guarantee grant funding or investment. However, the programme aims to improve investment readiness and facilitate introductions to potential investors, financial institutions, and strategic partners. IFAD will provide catalytic grants to three agritechs out of the total pool engaged in the accelerator. This is subject to the conditions laid out in the Call for Applications and other documents that will be published on the dLab website.

Applications will be assessed based on factors such as:

• Relevance of the solution to Tanzania's agricultural sector
• Use or potential use of data and digital technologies
• Market traction and growth potential
• Capacity and commitment of the management team
• Potential for scale and impact on farmers and agricultural value chains
• Flexibility and readiness to participate fully in the Accelerator

The programme targets enterprises that are post-revenue. Hence enterprises those with paying customers.

No. Applications will only be considered from for profit organisations (registered under cap 212 r.e 2023) whose business models or operations include sustainable, data-driven agricultural services or technologies that can be scaled.

Yes. AgriTech enterprises anywhere in the United Republic of Tanzania are encouraged to apply. Some activities are delivered virtually; others take place in person in Dar es Salaam.

Up to 10 agritechs will join the Accelerator. Up to 3 of these will also benefit from catalytic grants from IFAD.

Complete the online application form before the deadline. Ensure all required information is provided so your application can be assessed fairly.

Applications will be reviewed by the programme team against the eligibility and selection criteria. Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview or additional assessment before final selection. All applicants will be informed of the outcome.

All applicants will receive an email confirming that their application has been received. Please check your email spam folder if you do not receive the notification after completing the submission, as it might have been classified as spam by your email server. If you do not receive an email notification within 24 hours of submitting your application, please contact dLab at comms@dlab.or.tz immediately.

The application form must be signed by a founder of the AgriTech Enterprise. The AgriTech Enterprise must be a registered legal entity with the authority to enter into agreements with dLab.

Results of your application will be shared about one month from the close of the call for application

There is no appeal process. Applicants who are not successfully admitted to the accelerator are strongly encouraged to refer to the accelerator Implementation Guidelines for details on eligibility.

The acceleration program will start four months from the close of the call for application

These are milestone-based agreements tracking progress in the agreed upon metrics in the following areas:

• Technological
• Business/ Operations
• Investor readiness
• Data management

Yes. The accelerator is a knowledge-sharing platform, and sharing results and learnings is an important feature for the programme.  The information will be shared between the agri-tech data enterprises and other stakeholders to raise awareness of your work. You will be required to share information in the form of articles, blogs or videos that highlight your work, as well as to present your business at the demo day (of which information and your participation will be communicated to you by dLab).
