What is the Selection Process?

Open call for applications

The AgriTech4Morocco Innovation Challenge call for applications is announced on Wednesday, 30 March 2022 at 16:00 CET/14:00 GMT, and will be closed on Sunday 1 May 2022 at 23:59 CET/21:59 GMT.

Pre-selection of 20 projects

The 20 shortlisted candidates will be notified via email by Wednesday, 11 May 2022 and will be awarded an invitation to the three-day intensive bootcamp. Candidates must confirm participation of the bootcamp via email. Instructions on how to best prepare for the bootcamp and information regarding logistic arrangements will be provided to shortlisted candidates in due course.

Bootcamp

The top 20 innovations teams will participate in the three-day intensive bootcamp from Monday, 23 to Wednesday, 25 May 2022.
Hosted at the Qualipôle Alimentation de Meknès. Accommodation and travel expenses will be fully covered by organizing partners. Additional information will be made available to selected participants by email.

Announcement of the 10 finalists

The 10 finalists will be invited to take part in the Acceleration Program. They are required to confirm participation via email by Wednesday, 25 May 2022. The finalists will provide instructions on how to best prepare for the Acceleration Program in due course.

Acceleration program

The 10 finalists will participate in the ten-week Acceleration Program from Monday, 30 May to Monday, 25 July 2022.

6July

Demo day

Demo Day will run on Thursday, 28 July 2022. Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their solutions in front of an exclusive audience of agri-tech scientists, leading investors, and partners, and provide further information about their solution applications and business model.

How will solutions be selected?

Submissions will be evaluated using a scoring system. The Selection Committee will rate entries on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being the lowest (poor) and 5 being the highest score (excellent).

Preference will be given to innovators with solutions developed in Morocco.

  • Project quality: the solution addresses a clear market need with a solid value proposition.

  • Relevance to Morocco and the Generation Green 2020-2030 Strategy: The solution enhances efficiency, equity, and environmental sustainability of the agri-food sector in Morocco.

  • Sustainability and scalability of the solution: the solution demonstrates a prospected or clear sustainable revenue model.

  • Scientific relevance: the solution uses a science-based research approach to address the problem.

  • Market readiness/Maturity of the innovation: preference will be given to seed and early-stage companies.

  • Quality of the team: proven competence, technical coherence, motivation, gender representation, and age.
